Soccer Game Preview: Marian Catholic vs. Bloom

The Marian Catholic Spartans will head out to square off against the Bloom Blazing Trojan at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.

Bloom will have to contend with a Marian Catholic squad hungry for a win, something the team hasn't seen since April 22. Marian Catholic fell 4-2 to Homewood-Flossmoor on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, after failing to score in their last contest, Bloom made sure to put some goals up on the board against Momence on Wednesday. Their defense stepped up to hand the Momence Athletics a 9-0 shutout. Bloom might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 matchups by three goals or more this season.

Bloom has been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 12 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-7 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 66 goals over those 12 contests. As for Marian Catholic, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-12-1.

Marian Catholic might still be hurting after the 4-1 loss they got from Bloom in their previous matchup back in May of 2025. Can the Spartans avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
