Baseball Game Preview: Wheaton Academy Warriors vs. Montini Catholic Broncos

The Wheaton Academy Warriors will take on the Montini Catholic Broncos at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams are strolling into their contests after big wins in their previous games.

On Saturday, Wheaton Academy got the win against Crossroads Christian by a conclusive 13-1. The Warriors have beaten the CRU the last four times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the CRU has come to flipping the script.

Charlie Scherer looked comfortable as he struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk).

On the hitting side, Gunnar Fitzpatrick was excellent, scoring two runs while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. What's more, he posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in March of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Jackson From, who scored two runs while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

Meanwhile, Montini Catholic made easy work of Payton College Prep on Saturday and carried off a 12-1 win.

Wheaton Academy's victory bumped their record up to 2-0. As for Montini Catholic, the win got them back to even at 1-1.

Wheaton Academy beat Montini Catholic 5-1 in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Does Wheaton Academy have another victory up their sleeve, or will Montini Catholic turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
