Basketball Game Preview: Mendota Aztecs vs. Firebaugh Eagles

Last Friday, everything came up roses for Mendota against Avenal as the team secured a 57-26 victory. The win continues a trend for the Aztecs in their matchups with the Buccaneers: they've now won six in a row.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Firebaugh). They skirted past Dos Palos 74-71. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Eagles have posted since December 28, 2024.

Mendota pushed their record up to 14-12 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.3 points over those games. As for Firebaugh, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-16 record this season.
