After flying high against Kenston  on Monday, Mentor came back down to earth. The Cardinals took  a  3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Mayfield Wildcats on Tuesday. The Cardinals' defeat signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.
 While Mentor had to settle for second, they sure made a game of it, scoring at least 20 points in every set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-20, 25-22, 23-25,  25-20.
 Samuel Reynolds paced Mentor's offense, picking up 22 kills. Reynolds got some help from  Noam Welch and his 31 assists. Reynolds was also solid from the service line:  he led the team with three aces.
Mentor's loss dropped their record down to 10-7. As for Mayfield, the  win was  the ninth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 15-2.
 Mentor didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next  matchup,  a  3-0  victory against Medina on the 1st. As for Mayfield, they have also already played their next contest,  a  3-0  defeat against Nordonia on the 1st.
