Volleyball Recap: Merritt Island Christian Falls to Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy in First Game of Season + How To Watch

Merritt Island Christian unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They came up short against the Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy Tigers on Tuesday, falling 3-0. If the Cougars were looking for revenge after losing 3-0 to the Tigers when the teams met back in September of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

While Merritt Island Christian was kept off the board, it wasn't for a lack of trying: they cut into Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy's winning margin in every set. The match finished with set scores of 25-9, 25-13, 25-14.

Kilee Whyte was the offensive standout of the matchup as she had six aces and four digs. Those six aces gave her a new career-high.

Looking ahead, Merritt Island Christian will take on Indian Rocks Christian at 2:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 3-0 victory against Edgewood on the 21st.
