Baseball Recap: Taconic Takes a Loss

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Taconic and Pittsfield meet (three straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Thursday. The Thunder fell just short of the Generals by a score of 8-7. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Thunder of the 6-1 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2024.

Ed Ferris made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and fired off two home runs and three RBI while going 2-for-5. He also scored two runs, which is notable because Taconic is 2-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 2-3 otherwise. Gavin O'Donnell was another key player, going 2-for-5 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Taconic's defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 4-4. As for Pittsfield, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-1.

Taconic wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 5-4 loss against East Longmeadow on the 25th. As for Pittsfield, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, an 8-2 victory against Wahconah Regional on the 25th.
