Basketball Recap: Scituate Takes a Loss

Scituate lost against Cranston East back in December of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Scituate Spartans took a 52-45 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Cranston East Thunderbolts.

Despite the defeat, Scituate saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Caiden Reikhrud went 6 for 7 en route to 16 points and seven boards. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Reikhrud has scored all season. Ryan Larsh was another key player, putting up ten points in addition to seven rebounds and six assists.

Scituate has traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last eight matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-9 record this season. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.8 points per game. As for Cranston East, the win got them back to even at 6-6.

Scituate has already played their next game, a 63-31 victory against Achievement First Providence on the 21st. As for Cranston East, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 61-34 loss against Portsmouth on the 21st.
