Basketball Game Preview: Cross Creek Razorbacks vs. Baldwin Braves

The Cross Creek Razorbacks will take on the Baldwin Braves at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Cross Creek comes in on 18 and Baldwin on six.

Last Tuesday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Cross Creek beat West Laurens 60-55. Given the Razorbacks' advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 26th, while the Raiders are ranked 217th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Baldwin didn't have too much trouble with Howard on Tuesday as they won 47-31.

Cross Creek better focus on containing Deven Nelson and Jared Mundie as the pair were huge in Baldwin's win. Nelson posted nine points along with seven rebounds and five assists, while Mundie earned ten points and eight boards. Mundie is trending in the right direction considering he's improved his point production for three straight games. Jaylen King was another key player, putting up six points and six boards.

Baldwin smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in six consecutive contests.

Cross Creek pushed their record up to 22-1 with the win, which was their eighth straight at home. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 26.8 points. As for Baldwin, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 17-5 record this season.

Cross Creek skirted past Baldwin 45-42 when the teams last played back in December of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for Cross Creek since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
