Baseball Recap: Lakeland Has No Trouble Against Bartow

Lakeland had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the eight-run drubbing they dealt Bartow on Wednesday. The Dreadnaughts were the clear victors by an 11-3 margin over the Yellow Jackets. The Dreadnaughts haven't had any issues with the Yellow Jackets recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

Lakeland got a great performance from CONNOR FACEY as he tossed five innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. FACEY has become a key player for the Dreadnaughts: the team is 7-3 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 6-8 otherwise.

At the plate, CAMERON FUSE was a standout: he went 2-for-4 with two triples, two RBI, and one run. Those two triples gave him a new career-high. ELI MILLER was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4.

Lakeland's record is now 13-11. As for Bartow, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost 14 of their last 15 matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-17 record this season.

Lakeland will take on Lake Region at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Thunder will roll in looking for their eighth straight victory, something the Dreadnaughts surely won't give up without a fight. Bartow will be paying especially close attention to Lakeland's contest: after Lakeland faces off against Lake Region, they'll take on Bartow again at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
