Softball Recap: Polk County Slammers vs. Boone Central Cardinals        
        
		
             Polk County waltzed into their matchup  on Saturday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They walked away with  an   8-5  victory over the Boone Central Cardinals.
  Adrienne Waller was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound,   pitching six innings while giving up just two earned  (and three unearned) runs off   eight  hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't  pitched less than five  innings in seven consecutive pitching appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box,  going 2-for-4 with a  home run, three  RBI, and two  runs.
 In other batting news,  Shyenne Krol and  Savanna Boden did most of the damage at the plate:  Krol  scored three  runs while going 2-for-3, while  Boden  went 2-for-3 with a  home run and a  double. The last time  Krol's  batting average was this high was  back in August. Another player making a difference was  Kaleena Nuttleman, who  went 2-for-2 with two  RBI and a  double.
 Polk County  lost a few balls and  finished the game with two  home runs. That's a new  trend for them: they were averaging 0  home runs per game earlier this season, but in their last five contests they've averaged 0.8.
 Polk County is  on a roll lately: they've  won six of their last seven games,  which provided a nice bump to their 7-5 record  this season. As for Boone Central,  this is the second loss in a row for them and  nudges their season record down to 1-3.
 Polk County will welcome Highway 6  on Monday. As for Boone Central, their road trip will continue as they head out to face O'Neill on Tuesday. O'Neill is coming into the  match with four straight  wins at home,  so Boone Central will have to stop a  team with plenty of momentum.
