Basketball Game Preview: Pittsburg Pirates vs. Deer Valley Wolverines

Pittsburg and Deer Valley are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2019, but not for long. The Pittsburg Pirates will head out on the road to take on the Deer Valley Wolverines at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Pittsburg's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last three matches.

Pittsburg got their first taste of in-conference action this week and they started things off strong. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Heritage 59-56. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Pirates have posted against the Patriots since February 11, 2020.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 73 points the game before, Deer Valley was a bit more limited in their contest on Tuesday. They took a blow against Liberty, falling 95-28. The Wolverines have struggled against the Lions recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive lost matchup.

Deer Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 3-14. As for Pittsburg, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-7 record this season.

Pittsburg beat Deer Valley 95-82 in their previous matchup back in January of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for Pittsburg since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
