Basketball Recap: Advanced Studies Comes Up Short

Advanced Studies was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were beaten by the Deer Antlers 60-14. Advanced Studies was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 35-11.

Deer had a senior duo take command as Mason Guinnip almost dropped a double-double on 17 points and nine rebounds and Kaden Moore posted 15 points. Guinnip's afternoon made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Ayden Burdine was another key player, putting up eight points and seven rebounds.

Advanced Studies' defeat dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Deer, their win bumped their record up to 6-9.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Advanced Studies will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Lead Hill at 4:30 p.m. on January 21st. As for Deer, they will challenge Founders Classical Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Deer's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last four matches.
