Basketball Game Preview: Memorial Mavericks vs. Cooper Cougars

The Memorial Mavericks will square off against the Cooper Cougars at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Memorial fought the good fight in their overtime contest against Abilene on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 55-51 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Eagles. The Mavericks' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Meanwhile, Cooper was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They fell 52-44 to Abilene. While losing is never fun, the Cougars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1174th, while the Eagles are ranked 352nd).

Memorial's defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 8-6. As for Cooper, their loss dropped their record down to 1-24.
