Baseball Recap: Rincon/University Comes Up Short

Rincon/University had lost four straight on the road, but on Friday they dropped down to 4-20 to make it five. They lost 12-5 to the Pusch Ridge Christian Academy Lions. The Rangers were not able to make up for their defeat to the Lions from their previous meeting back in March of 2025.

Anthony Kasmar put in work while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over five innings while giving up three earned (and three unearned) runs off six hits. Kasmar was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one triple and one run. He is on a roll when it comes to hits, as he's now got three or more in each of the last three games he's played.

In other batting news, Mark Gaxiola was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.

As for Pusch Ridge Christian Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 17-10 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.6 runs on average over those games.

On Pusch Ridge Christian Academy's side, the team relied heavily on TJ Loftis, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Loftis is becoming a predictor of the Lions' success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is undefeated (and 8-10 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Carsen Canale, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.

As of now, neither Rincon/University nor Pusch Ridge Christian Academy have any future games scheduled.
