Softball Game Preview: George C. Marshall Statesmen vs. Annandale Atoms

The George C. Marshall Statesmen will head out on the road to face off against the Annandale Atoms at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. George C. Marshall has given up an average of 7.7 runs per game this season, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Yorktown hit George C. Marshall with a seven-run third inning on Friday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Statesmen lost 17-7 to the Patriots. The Statesmen have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Lindsey Manifor was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI.

The home team had come away the winner the last five times Annandale and Thomas Jefferson Science & Technology had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Atoms fell just short of the Colonials by a score of 9-7 on Friday. The Atoms haven't had much luck with the Colonials recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

Annandale's loss dropped their record down to 5-8. As for George C. Marshall, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-9.

Everything went George C. Marshall's way against Annandale in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, as George C. Marshall made off with a 15-3 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Statesmen since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
