Softball Recap: Crestview Drops Highest Score of Season Against Spencerville

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Crestview). Everything went their way against the Spencerville Bearcats on Thursday as they made off with a 17-2 victory. With that win, the Knights brought their scoring average up to 6.6 runs per game.

Emma Ward and Delaine Balliet did most of the damage at the plate: Ward went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, while Balliet went 2-for-3 with three runs and one RBI. Those three runs gave Balliet a new career-high. Kaydacen Rodriguez was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs and two RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Crestview kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are 4-1 when they post 11 or more hits.

The victory made it two in a row for Crestview and bumps their season record up to 5-9. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 6 runs in those games. As for Spencerville, their loss dropped their record down to 2-9.

Looking ahead, Crestview will venture away from home to square off against Columbus Grove at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Knights' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bulldogs have averaged an impressive 7.1 runs per game this season. As for Spencerville, they will host Houston at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
