Softball Recap: Pittsburg Takes a Loss

Pittsburg was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They lost 6-0 to the Mt. Pleasant Tigers. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Pirates of the 8-3 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in February of 2019.

Pittsburg's defeat dropped their record down to 3-6. As for Mt. Pleasant, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-8-1 record this season.

Pittsburg and Mt. Pleasant could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings. Pittsburg will square off against Sulphur Springs at 6:00 p.m. on March 18th down 778 places (859 vs. 81). Pittsburg has given up an average of 8.8 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week. Similarly, Mt. Pleasant (ranked 342nd) will meet Hallsville (ranked 75th) at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
