Volleyball Game Preview: Hermann Bearcats vs. Owensville Dutchmen

Hermann has gone a perfect 10-0 against Owensville recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Bearcats will square off against the Dutchmen at 4:00 p.m.

Hermann managed to slip by St. Clair the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Bearcats lost 3-0 to the Bulldogs on Thursday. Surprisingly, this marked the Bearcats' fourth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.

Hermann might've come up short, but they didn't make it easy on St. Clair: every set was decided by three points or less. The match finished with set scores of 25-23, 27-25, 25-22.

Hermann's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Kealie Lane, who had 15 digs and one assist, and Erika Schutt, who had nine digs. Lane is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 14 or more in each of the last three games she's played.

Meanwhile, Owensville came into Monday's matchup having lost three straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They came out on top against St. James by a score of 2-0 on Monday.

Owensville's victory bumped their record up to 13-9-1. As for Hermann, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-8-1 record this season.

Hermann took their win against Owensville in their previous matchup back in October of 2024 by a conclusive 3-0 score. Do the Bearcats have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Dutchmen turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
