Soccer Game Preview: Vernon Hills vs. Highland Park

Vernon Hills hasn't had much luck against Highland Park recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Cougars will be playing in front of their home fans against the Giants at 7:30 p.m. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Vernon Hills will roll into the matchup after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up one goal on Tuesday, then bounced right back against Niles West on Thursday. The Cougars came out on top against Wolves by a score of 4-2. Vernon Hills haven't had any issues with Niles West recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Highland Park fell on hard times earlier this season, but after back-to-back victories it seems like their luck might finally be changing. While the 0-0 score might suggest a draw, it was the Giants who were credited with the win on Sunday.

Vernon Hills' victory bumped their record up to 3-6-2. As for Highland Park, the win was their first on the road , bumping their record up to 4-8-1.

Vernon Hills came out on top in a nail-biter against Highland Park in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, sneaking past 2-1. Will the Cougars repeat their success, or do the Giants have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
