Basketball Preview: Seabreeze Sandcrabs vs. St. Augustine Yellow Jackets
Seabreeze has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will square off against the St. Augustine Yellow Jackets at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Seabreeze has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
Even though Bridge to Independence scored an imposing 63 points on Wednesday, Seabreeze still came out on top. Seabreeze snuck past the Wildcats with a 67-63 win.
It was another big night for John Dunlap, who scored 27 points along with seven rebounds and four blocks. Another player making a difference was Aiden Bailey, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Meanwhile, St. Augustine was just a bucket shy of victory on Tuesday and fell 51-50 to the Knights. While losing is never fun, St. Augustine can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 234th, while the Knights are ranked 104th).
Seabreeze's win ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 6-17. As for St. Augustine, their loss dropped their record down to 12-9.
Seabreeze came up short against the Yellow Jackets in their previous meeting back in February of 2020, falling 45-37. Thankfully for Seabreeze, Dequan Stanley (who scored 14 points along with seven rebounds and four steals) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
