Basketball Preview: Solid Rock Community Sea Shepherds vs. Geneva Classical Academy Knights
The Solid Rock Community Sea Shepherds will head out on the road to face off against the Geneva Classical Academy Knights at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Solid Rock Community comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 19 points in their last six games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse.
Last Thursday, Solid Rock Community was beaten by the Lions 66-6. Solid Rock Community has struggled against the Lions recently, as their match last Thursday was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
Meanwhile, winning is just a little bit easier when you work as a team to rack up nine more assists than your opponent, a fact Geneva Classical Academy proved on Thursday. They came out on top against Oasis Christian by a score of 41-28. The team accrued 29 points in the first half and coasted on those for the victory.
It was another big night for Giselle Katzmann, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 11 steals. Katzmann is crushing the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Sophie Dalen, who scored nine points along with five assists and three steals.
Solid Rock Community has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-4 record this season. As for Geneva Classical Academy, they pushed their record up to 9-4 with that victory, which was their third straight at home.
Solid Rock Community was dealt a bruising 68-17 loss at the hands of the Knights in their previous matchup back in February of 2023. The match was all but decided by halftime, at which point Solid Rock Community was down 39-8.
