Recap: Granbury Pirates vs. Red Oak Hawks
The Granbury Pirates''s recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their sixth straight loss. They suffered a tough 27-3 defeat at the hands of Red Oak. While losing is never fun, Granbury can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 509th, while Red Oak is ranked 58th).
Red Oak got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Reggie Moody out in front who threw for 308 yards and two touchdowns. Taz Williams jr was another key contributor, picking up 194 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Granbury's defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their overall record down to 3-6. The slump could be explained by some tough opposition over that stretch, namely Red Oak, Lake Belton, and Killeen. As for Red Oak, the victory for they keeps them at an undefeated 9-0.
Granbury will head out on the road to face off against Shoemaker at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Shoemaker will be hoping to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each match than the last. As for Red Oak, they will be playing at home against Midlothian at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Midlothian is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
