Softball Recap: Colony Wins Going Away Against Ketchikan

Colony barely beat Ketchikan the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Knights put the hurt on the Kings with a sharp 11-4 win on Friday. The result was nothing new for the Knights, who have now won eight contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Kaidence Browning was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Alexis Congdon, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and four RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024. Malana Bell was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one run and one double.

Colony always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .560. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Ketchikan only posted an OBP of .412.

Colony's record now sits at 11-3. As for Ketchikan, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-7.

Colony wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next match, a 7-7 tie against Sitka on the 18th. Hopefully Ketchikan paid attention to the Knights' game: the next time they hit the field, they'll take on the Knights at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday.
