Recap: West Nassau Warriors vs. Baldwin Indians

The West Nassau Warriors fought the good fight in their overtime matchup against the Baldwin Indians on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 59-58 to the Indians. West Nassau was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Baldwin apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.

West Nassau's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Abagail Bailey, who scored 21 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Morgan Middlebrooks, who scored 14 points.

Baldwin was led to victory by Nyrie Gabriel and Janiylah Stallworth. Gabriel scored 17 points along with four steals and two blocks, while Stallworth scored 19 points along with four steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Stallworth has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Danasia Baxter, who scored ten points along with five rebounds.

West Nassau has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-12 record this season. As for Baldwin, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-11.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. West Nassau will challenge Baker County at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Baldwin, they will head out on the road to square off against Englewood at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
