Softball Game Preview: Rickover Naval Seadragons vs. Phillips Wildcats

The Rickover Naval Seadragons will venture away from home to face off against the Phillips Wildcats at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Rickover Naval will be strutting in after a victory while Phillips will be coming in after a loss.

Rickover Naval will roll into the contest after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up one run on March 12th, then bounced right back against Steinmetz College Prep on Monday. The Seadragons walked away with a 21-17 win over the Streaks. The Seadragons haven't had any issues with the Streaks recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

Rickover Naval got a massive performance out of Kayla Mateo, who got on base in three of her five plate appearances with seven stolen bases, four runs, and one RBI. Those seven stolen bases gave Mateo a new career-high. Sofia Fuentes was another key player, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with four stolen bases, three runs, and one triple.

Rickover Naval kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Steinmetz College Prep only managed two.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Phillips challenged Blue Island Eisenhower on Monday. The Wildcats came up short against the Cardinals, falling 15-0. The Wildcats have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Rickover Naval now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Phillips, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.
