Softball Recap: Forbes Road Comes Up Short

Forbes Road extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 18 on Wednesday, dropping their season record down to 0-15 in the process. They lost 9-0 to the Meyersdale Red Raiders. If Forbes Road was looking for revenge after losing 10-0 to Meyersdale when the teams met back in May of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

As for Meyersdale, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 10-6. Considering they have won nine matches by more than seven runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

For Meyersdale's part, Madison Berkley was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over seven innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts Berkley has posted since back in March. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ella Deal, who went 1-for-2 with four RBI and two runs. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Graci Reese, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs.

Looking ahead, Forbes Road will take on Southern Fulton at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Indians have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 6.63 runs per game on average), something Forbes Road will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Meyersdale, they will square off against Forest Hills at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
