Football Recap: Northfield Falls Short Against Ranked Denver South

Northfield faced Denver South in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. The Nighthawks had to suffer through a 42-0 loss at the hands of the Ravens. The defensive woes were uncharacteristic for the Nighthawks, who until this contest were averaging 8.67 points allowed.

Ale Garcia threw for 82 yards on 12 of 24 attempts. Ainsley Mitzo was her top target, picking up 31 receiving yards.

Northfield's loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 7-2. As for Denver South, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 8-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Northfield will square off against Rangeview at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Denver South, they will take on Regis Jesuit at 7:00 p.m. on the 24th.
