Soccer Recap: Mitchell Takes a Loss

Mitchell was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their eighth straight loss. They came up short against the NCSSM: Morganton Dragons, falling 8-0. While losing is never fun, Mitchell can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina soccer rankings (they are ranked 517th, while NCSSM: Morganton are ranked 192nd).

Mitchell's defeat dropped their record down to 0-8. As for NCSSM: Morganton, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-2-1 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mitchell will challenge Madison at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for NCSSM: Morganton, they will face off against Avery County at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. NCSSM: Morganton's defense better be ready for this one: Avery County have averaged an impressive 2.7 goals per game this season.
