Softball Recap: Leslie County Comes Up Short

Leslie County fought the good fight in their extra-innings match against Harlan County on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell 6-3 to the Black Bears. The Eagles have struggled against the Black Bears recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meeting.

Emily Caldwell spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and five unearned) runs on 11 hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Leslie County saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Royce Osborne, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Leslie County's loss dropped their record down to 3-12. As for Harlan County, the win snapped their losing streak at four games and leaves them with a 7-10 record.

Looking ahead, Leslie County will square off against Owsley County at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Harlan County, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Middlesboro at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
