Summit faced Independence in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. The Spartans came out on top against the Eagles by a score of 3-1. The Spartans haven't had any issues with the Eagles recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.
Summit had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. The final score came out to 23-25, 25-13, 25-14, 25-17.
Their offense was headlined by Emery Estep and Maggie Kalisz, who picked up 14 kills apiece. They got some help from Amanda Shanahan and her 34 assists.
