Basketball Recap: Riverside Comes Up Short

Riverside was the 56-50 winner over East when they last played one another back in February, but their luck changed this time around. The Frontiers took a hard 47-32 fall against the Panthers on Tuesday. Surprisingly, this marked the Frontiers' fifth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.

When it comes to explaining why Riverside lost, don't look at Jahiem Foster. Despite the final result, he posted ten points along with six boards and three steals. Foster is crushing it when it comes to steals: he's grabbed at least two every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Yafiet Tesegay, who earned two points and 16 rebounds.

East's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Dallas Hernandez led the charge by dropping a double-double with 15 points and 11 boards. With that strong performance, Hernandez is now averaging an impressive 2.2 steals per game. Tendai Furbert was another key player, putting up 15 points in addition to seven rebounds and four steals.

Riverside's loss dropped their record down to 3-1. As for East, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 4-2.

Looking ahead, Riverside will be home for the holidays to greet Burgard at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for East, they have already played their next contest, an 82-44 defeat against Math Science Tech Prep at Seneca on the 17th.
