Baseball Game Preview: Thomas Jefferson Science & Technology Colonials vs. Hayfield Hawks

Thomas Jefferson Science & Technology hasn't had much luck against Hayfield recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Colonials will head out on the road to face off against the Hawks at 6:00 p.m.

On Monday, Thomas Jefferson Science & Technology came up short against Mount Vernon and fell 8-3.

Meanwhile, Hayfield came tearing into Tuesday's game with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9.3 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They never let the Atoms get on the board and left with a 10-0 victory. The Hawks might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine matchups by seven runs or more this season.

The team relied heavily on Jack Ross, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, three stolen bases, and three runs. Those four hits gave him a new career-high. Kian Kaboli also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Hayfield was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .435. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .407 or higher in four consecutive contests.

Hayfield's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-5. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.3 runs over those games. As for Thomas Jefferson Science & Technology, their loss dropped their record down to 3-5.

Thomas Jefferson Science & Technology might still be hurting after the 16-0 defeat they got from Hayfield in their previous meeting on April 1st. Can the Colonials avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
