Basketball Game Preview: Midlothian Heritage Jaguars vs. Ennis Lions

A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Midlothian Heritage Jaguars take on the Ennis Lions at 5:30 p.m. on Friday... The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Midlothian Heritage has three straight victories, Ennis has 17 straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

Midlothian Heritage is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They claimed a resounding 72-21 win over Terrell. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 41-4.

Midlothian Heritage's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Ava Batty led the charge by putting up 21 points. That's the most points Batty has posted since back in December of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Danaya Hicks, who posted 14 points.

Meanwhile, Ennis played a tough match on Tuesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They had to suffer through a 70-9 loss at the hands of Red Oak. The contest marked the Lions' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Ennis' loss dropped their record down to 6-26. As for Midlothian Heritage, they pushed their record up to 23-9 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home.

Everything came up roses for Midlothian Heritage against Ennis in their previous matchup on January 7th, as the squad secured a 50-20 win. Does Midlothian Heritage have another victory up their sleeve, or will Ennis turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
