Basketball Recap: Cornerstone Charter Academy Comes Up Short

Cornerstone Charter Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were four points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 58-54 heartbreaker at the hands of the Lake Minneola Hawks. That's two games in a row now that the Ducks have lost by exactly four points.

Despite the loss, Cornerstone Charter Academy still got an impressive performance from Derick Augustin, who posted 28 points and five rebounds. That was a full 51.9% of the Ducks' points, marking the third time in a row Augustin has earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Kingston Infante, who had four points and 11 boards.

Cornerstone Charter Academy's loss dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Lake Minneola, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. After both having extra time off, Cornerstone Charter Academy and Montverde Academy Purple will shake off the rust and duke it out at 7:00 p.m. on December 2. As for Lake Minneola, they will venture away from home to square off against Foundation Academy at 7:00 p.m. on December 5.
