Baseball Recap: Friday's Loss Ends Chatham Central's Winning Streak

Chatham Central suffered their closest loss since March 8, 2024 on Friday. They wound up with the same score they had in their last game (8-6), but sadly the team found themselves on the wrong side of the score this time. They were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Buccaneers earlier this season, when they won 8-6.

Brett Phillips made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with three RBI and two doubles. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high. Luke Gaines also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

With the defeat, Chatham Central broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 3-5. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.3 runs over those games. As for Bartlett Yancey, they moved to 2-3 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak.

Chatham Central wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 16-2 loss against Eastern Randolph on the 17th. As for Bartlett Yancey, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 13-4 defeat against Northwood on the 18th.
