Autry, Lawrence had another great game (as he tends to do), rushing for 159 yards and three TDs, while also picking up 41 receiving yards. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 103.3 rushing yards per game.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Collierville was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 254 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in September.
Another reason for the win was Collierville's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for nine sacks. Braylon Warren led the group effort, picking up four of those sacks all by himself. He is on a roll when it comes to sacks, as he's now posted at least one in each of the last three games he's played.
Meanwhile, everything came up roses for Southwind against Brentwood on Friday as the team secured a 48-14 victory. The Jaguars might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 contests by 21 points or more this season.
Collierville better keep an eye on Kelvin Perkins. He was instrumental in Southwind's win, rushing for 88 yards and three scores on only seven carries, while also throwing for 315 yards and a pair of touchdowns while completing 87.5% of his passes. What's more, Perkins racked up 166.7 passer rating, the most he's had since back in September. Southwind's leading receiver Jontae Alexander was Perkins' top target yet again, picking up 148 receiving yards and one TD.
Southwind's win bumped their record up to 12-0. As for Collierville, their victory bumped their record up to 9-3.
Friday's matchup might be decided on the ground. Collierville has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 207.7 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Southwind struggles in that department as they've been averaging 223 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's game turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Collierville won a contest that couldn't have been any closer when the teams last played back in August of 2019, slipping by Southwind 29-28. Will the Dragons repeat their success, or do the Jaguars have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
