Softball Recap: Marlington Now 4-1 over Last Five Games

While Marlington put up some runs on Friday, the same can't be said for Hillsdale. The Dukes came out on top against the Falcons by a score of 5-0 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game).

Justine Doringo made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out ten over seven innings pitched. Doringo was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Doringo wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Faith Savage, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI. Another was Chelsea Miller, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one double.

Marlington is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-2 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Hillsdale, their loss ended a 12-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 11-2.

Marlington didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 15-1 victory against Alliance on the 22nd. Hillsdale has also already played their next contest (against North Ridgeville), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
