Softball Game Preview: Northern Guilford Nighthawks vs. Page Pirates

Northern Guilford has gone a perfect 8-0 against Page recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Nighthawks will head out to face off against the Pirates at 6:00 p.m. Northern Guilford is coming into the game hot, having won their last five games.

Northern Guilford will bounce into Thursday's matchup after beating Northwest Guilford, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. The Nighthawks walked away with a 7-3 victory over the Vikings on Wednesday.

Dakotah Wilkins made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 15 batters over seven innings while giving up three earned runs off three hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in 14 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring three runs while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, Morgan Headen was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.

Meanwhile, Page had to endure a six-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They were the clear victors by a 24-11 margin over Western Guilford on Wednesday. The high-scoring effort was just what the Pirates needed considering they were shut out in their previous contest.

Northern Guilford's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-4. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.4 runs on average over those games. As for Page, they picked up their first road win, bumping their record up to 2-9.

Everything went Northern Guilford's way against Page in their previous meeting back in March, as Northern Guilford made off with a 15-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Nighthawks since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
