Football Recap: Smithfield Falls to Lafayette in First Game of Season + How To Watch

Smithfield unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They came up short against the Lafayette Rams on Friday, falling 40-14. While losing is never fun, the Packers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia football rankings (they are ranked 155th, while the Rams are ranked 29th).

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Smithfield will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Bruton at 7:00 p.m. on September 12. As for Lafayette, they will face off against Warhill at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
