Basketball Game Preview: Rush City Tigers vs. Spectrum Sting

Rush City hasn't had much luck against Spectrum recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Rush City Tigers will head out on the road to face off against the Spectrum Sting at 7:00 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Rush City is headed into Friday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fifth straight game on Tuesday. They took a 78-64 bruising from Pine City. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Monday (58), the Tigers still had to take the loss.

Meanwhile, Spectrum entered their tilt with North Lakes Academy on Tuesday with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. They took their game with ease, bagging a 99-29 win over the Huskies. Given the Sting's advantage in MaxPreps' Minnesota basketball rankings (they are ranked 175th, while the Huskies are ranked 407th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Spectrum is also on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 80.9 points per game. As for Rush City, their loss dropped their record down to 4-12.

Rush City took a serious blow against Spectrum when the teams last played back in January of 2024, falling 71-35. That contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point Rush City was down 71-35.
