Baseball Recap: Lindbergh Comes Up Short in High-Profile Game with Howell

Lindbergh faced Howell in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Monday. Lindbergh fell 5-2 to Howell. The Flyers have struggled against the Vikings recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meeting.

Austin Jones was huge no matter where he played even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over four innings pitched. What's more, he posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in May of 2024. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

Jones wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Jack Politte, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-4. Politte is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's snagged at least one every time he's taken the field this season.

Lindbergh's defeat dropped their record down to 6-2. As for Howell, their victory was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-0.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lindbergh will square off against North Point at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. North Point will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Lindbergh surely won't give up without a fight. As for Howell, they will challenge Christian Brothers at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
