Baseball Recap: Musselman Takes a Loss

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Musselman and Hedgesville meet (three straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Thursday. The Musselman Applemen fell 7-2 to the Hedgesville Eagles. The loss continues a trend for the Applemen in their meetings with the Eagles: they've now lost three in a row.

Kamdyn Woolum was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April of 2024.

On the hitting side, Ryder Ganse made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run while going 2-for-2. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in hits.

Musselman's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Musselman will venture away from home to face off against South Hagerstown at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Hedgesville, they will face off against Greenbrier East at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
