Softball Recap: Baldwin Wins Going Away Against Mandarin

Baldwin won the last time they faced Mandarin and things went their way on Friday too. Everything went the Baldwin Indians' way against the Mandarin Mustangs as the Baldwin Indians made off with a 13-3 victory. Considering the Indians have won three matchups by more than nine runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

The team relied heavily on Jazmine Ramos-Merced, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024. Rylan Gray also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.

Baldwin was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .440. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Baldwin pushed their record up to 4-2 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Mandarin, they now have a losing record of 2-3.

Looking ahead, Baldwin will square off against Atlantic Coast at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Atlantic Coast will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something Baldwin surely won't give up without a fight. As for Mandarin, they will host Nease at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Mandarin is facing Nease at the right time seeing as Nease is stuck on a five-game losing streak.
