Baseball Game Preview: Normal Community Ironmen vs. Brother Rice Crusaders

The Normal Community Ironmen will face off against the Brother Rice Crusaders at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. The last five games Normal Community has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Normal Community heads in on the heels of a playoff matchup on Friday. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 2-1 to Libertyville, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior.

Normal Community saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Max Heineman, who went 1-for-4 with one double.

Meanwhile, Brother Rice faced McHenry in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Crusaders fell 4-1 to the Warriors. The Crusaders' loss signaled the end of their six-game winning streak.

Danny Sheehan was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he pitched 4.2 innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in 13 consecutive appearances.

Brother Rice's defeat dropped their record down to 36-4. As for Normal Community, their loss dropped their record down to 36-6.
