South Ripley couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They fell victim to a tough 20-10 loss at the hands of the Batesville Bulldogs on Thursday. Both teams can probably skip cardio this week after making that many trips around the bases.
Julia Hilton made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and a stolen base. Another player making a difference was Lillyana Guerra, who scored three runs and stole three bases while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
Even though they lost, South Ripley hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Batesville struck out seven times.

South Ripley will be playing at home against Austin at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Batesville, they will head out on the road to take on Rushville at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Rushville and Batesville are at an even 5-5 over their past ten head-to-heads.
