Basketball Recap: Guilford Extends Road Winning Streak to Six

Guilford won the last time they faced Jefferson and things went their way on Saturday too. The Guilford Vikings walked away with a 58-47 win over the Jefferson J-Hawks. Given the Vikings' advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 65th, while the J-Hawks are ranked 347th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Guilford got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Branden Chatman out in front who posted 16 points. Another player making a difference was Je'Sean Frye, who had 14 points.

Guilford pushed their record up to 14-3 with the win, which was their sixth straight on the road. As for Jefferson, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-10 record this season.

Guilford will head out to square off against Belvidere at 7:15 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Jefferson, they will square off against Harlem at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Harlem has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
