Basketball Recap: Mount de Sales Academy Takes a Loss

Mount de Sales Academy suffered their closest loss since December 20, 2023 on Friday. They fell just short of the Severn School Admirals by a score of 48-45. The Sailors were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Admirals apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.

When it comes to explaining why Mount de Sales Academy lost, don't look at Shelby Lewis. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double with 21 points and ten rebounds. Thanks to that strong game, Lewis now owns an excellent 45% shooting accuracy. The team also got some help courtesy of Katie Carroll, who posted five points along with five boards and three steals.

Severn School's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Brynn Houghton, who earned nine points and seven rebounds. Katherine Mentesana was another key player, putting up eight points and 12 boards.

Mount de Sales Academy's loss was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 8-1 and their overall record down to 20-6. As for Severn School, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 15-6.

Mount de Sales Academy wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 41-28 win against Gerstell Academy on the 10th. As for Severn School, they have also already played their next matchup, a 62-41 victory against Indian Creek on the 10th.
