Basketball Recap: New Richmond Comes Up Short

New Richmond was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were beaten by the Rice Lake Warriors 78-38. While losing is never fun, the Tigers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Wisconsin basketball rankings (they are ranked 287th, while the Warriors are ranked 30th).

Rice Lake was led to victory by Adaline Sheplee and Addison Schmidt. Sheplee dropped a double-double on 29 points and ten rebounds, while Schmidt dropped a double-double on 21 points and 16 boards. The contest was Sheplee's seventh in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Sydney Schradle, who went 5 of 7 en route to 10 points and five rebounds.

New Richmond's loss dropped their record down to 5-11. As for Rice Lake, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 13-2.

New Richmond will square off against Eau Claire North at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Rice Lake, they will take on Menomonie at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Rice Lake's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last three matchups.
