Basketball Recap: Tularosa Find Success

Tularosa won the last time they faced Cobre and things went their way on Thursday too. The Tularosa Wildcats secured a 62-57 W over the Cobre Indians.

Cobre's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Zavin Guck, who dropped a double-double on 24 points and 11 boards. That was a full 42.1% of Cobre's points, marking the third time in a row he's posted more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Izon Guck, who scored 24 points and seven rebounds.

Tularosa has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 15-5 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.4 points per game. As for Cobre, they dropped their record down to 12-8 with the loss, which was their third straight at home.

Tularosa will face off against Dexter at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Tularosa knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past four games -- so hopefully Dexter likes a good challenge. As for Cobre, they will square off against Hot Springs at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
