Softball Recap: Blacklick Valley Vikings vs. Purchase Line Red Dragons

Blacklick Valley had lost five straight on the road, but on Thursday they dropped their record down to 4-16 to make it six. They lost 10-0 to the Purchase Line Red Dragons. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Red Dragons this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 16-1 back in March.

Blacklick Valley saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sarah Mourey, who went 1-for-2 with one double.

As for Purchase Line, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-8 record this season. The result was nothing new for Purchase Line, who have now won seven matches by seven runs or more so far this season.

On Purchase Line's side, Rylee Mahaffey made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 14 over five innings pitched. Mahaffey has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in ten consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That stolen base marked the first that she has snagged this season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Brooklynn Walker, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. Alorra Phillips was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run.
